Welcome to the table of the Longest Lutheran Lunch!
Since its humble beginning event seven years ago we’ve seen the Longest Lutheran Lunch offer hospitality as far away as the US and Canada and even South Sudan.
In 2016 the Longest Lutheran Lunch is joining in the events the Lutheran Church of Australia is celebrating beginning with the 50th Anniversary of the LCA and next year with the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation. A collaborative approach to all these events is designed to build relationships with Lutherans and other Christians across the world and in particular those who don’t yet know Christ as their Saviour.
This year our focus is sharing the gift of service in addition to the gift of hospitality. It’s time to celebrate and acknowledge the gift of service God has blessed us with!
The Longest Lutheran Lunch is also an opportunity for people to re-connect and re-establish.
In 2015 there were just over 100 official events, where Lutheran communities cooked and served, invited and greeted, listened and laughed and did everything they could to make people feel welcome.
This year’s Longest Lutheran Lunch is planned for Sunday 30 October, the closest Sunday to Reformation Day on 31 October.
As always though, you are free to hold your Longest Lutheran Lunch whenever it suits you and your events calendar best. Tag it with an existing event or create something new! The opportunities are endless from BBQ’s in a farmers paddock to themed dinners amongst the grapevines! Check out our Best 20 Ideas here.
